If someone gets hit in the head and it makes them go unconscious (black out), they’ve probably been hit pretty hard! Our brains are actually quite soft and squishy and are protected by fluid and the hard skull. When you get hit really hard in the head, your brain moves and slams into the hard skull and that messes up the brain working and you go unconscious. A really hard hit could also stop blood and oxygen getting to the brain so the brain stops working properly and you go unconscious.

To add to what Debbie said, there can also be damage from when we lightly get hit on the head too, especially if this is repeated (like in boxing or rugby). Look after yourself!
