• Question: What was the most interesting Science meeting have you been to?

      Great question – every year I go to this meeting of a society called International Society of Political Psychology and it is really my favourite because there are so many people from around the world and I get to learn what are the big social and political problems in countries around the world.

      I have two favourites! My first was the “International Conference on Conversation Analysis”, I learnt *so* much and I got to present my own research to world-leading scientists from across the world! + I got to meet so many new people, we hung out on beach chairs & ate fish and chips together!

      My second was the International Communication Association conference, it was HUGE, like 3,000 people!! and I also got to meet and talk to a lot of new people. I spent about 5 days talking to people about what ‘state-of-the-art’ research is happening, and working out scientific problems with others. We also had a funfair themed party at the conference!

      My favourite was a conference I went to last year called the UK Dementia Congress. As well as lots of researchers talking about their work, there were also people with dementia and people who look after people with dementia. They talked about their experiences, asked the scientists questions, and told them what they thought was important. I haven’t been to many science meetings where people with dementia and researchers talk side by side and exchange ideas, so it was really important and useful.
      It was also in Brighton where I hadn’t been before, and it was lovely having a good walk by the sea!

      Some of my research looks at sexuality and how this relates to social media – I went to a meeting called the “International Academy of Sex Researchers” and presented some of my research there. There were so many big names there who do lots of amazing research. It was really interesting to see some of the cutting edge science being conducted.
