      There are lots of different types and sometimes people can have more than one type (called “mixed dementia”). The four most common types are:
      – Alzheimer’s disease (the most common)
      – Vascular dementia (which is called that because it is caused by not getting enough blood to the brain)
      – Lewy body dementia (because the protein deposits on nerve cells in this type of dementia are called “Lewy bodies”)
      – Frontotemporal dementia (which affects the parts of the brain called the frontal and temporal lobes)
      There are also lots of other kinds, but those are the most common ones
