I’ve always been interested in why people act the way they do and what can influence peoples’ behaviour. Psychology seemed like a good fit to learn more about people.

I’m not really interested in psychology. I started in Linguistics, moved to Sociology and now I’m a Psychologist!

For me, it doesn’t matter that I’m a psychologist — just that I’m interested in social interaction and how humans behave in the world.

I think I was always interested in why people behave the way they did – I remember being a teenagers and trying to figure out why some people in my school were acting so weird and I spent a lot of my time thinking about what motivates people to act certain ways. I took Psychology as A-level and and this is where I learnt how we can apply scientific methods to study human behaviour and that was life-changing for me – now, I have the skills and knowledge to design experiments to address virtually any question someone may have about human behaviour.

When I was younger I was really interested in how brains work – like is the colour “red” that I see the same thing as the colour “red” that you see? And I read a book I got at a train station when I was about 15 about all sorts of weird brain things that I found fascinating. So that’s why I decided to study psychology at university. Afterwards, I got more interested in working with people and talking to people, so I worked as a clinical psychologist (like a therapist), then eventually started doing research.
