Anxiety can be caused by all sorts of things, and often it can be more than one thing. It might be something biological – like not getting enough sleep or the way the chemicals in your brain work. Or it might be things the person experiences like being bullied or by having too much work to do. Sometimes it isn’t about things that are going on now, but about difficult experiences the person had in the past.
Some food and drugs can also make you feel like you’re anxious, like having a lot of caffeine (in coffee or energy drinks) because they can cause the same symptoms as anxiety like your heart racing, feeling fidgety and restless, or a bit light-headed.

Not my area, but basically what Debbie said. Sometimes it’s also recognising that anxiety isn’t always rationale (we don’t always know why it happens). Paranoia is a bit different to anxiety though!
