There are lots of different kinds of jobs in psychology so it really depends what you’re doing! As a researcher my job is pretty flexible, unless I’ve got something booked in (like a meeting, teaching, or I’m visiting people as part of my research), I can work from home if I want, and choose what hours I work. When I worked as a clinical psychologist (a type of therapist) it was less flexible because I had people booked in all day so had to be at work at certain times.
Like Debbie says — as a researcher I get to decide when I work and what I want to focus on, but there are things that I have to do. I normally work in my office because it’s where I work best, and I probably wouldn’t work so much at home.
It can be – it depends what time of job within Psychology you do. I have a fair bit of freedom to research and work around my own schedule as a lecturer, but some psychology jobs can be more 9-5 based.
