Definitely! I’ve learnt so much about the world, and how to do things whilst doing psychology that I’m prepared for loads of jobs. People some times call them ‘soft skills’, things like public speaking, writing reports, working as a team or independently. These are attributes that employers really value and being a scientist means you’re already (at least) pretty good at them!

Yes! When I finish my PhD I’d like to carry on as a researcher, but I might do something totally different if there aren’t research jobs where I want to live. All of the skills I’ve learnt through psychology and science (like the things Jack describes) mean I can do all kinds of other jobs if I decide to change to something else.

Psychology is a really flexible thing to study. You learn about people, how to interact with them, how to think about the world in a more critical sense, how to analyse loads of different types of data, how to ask questions of information, the list goes on.
