It’s great that you’re interested in science. I would say think about what you’re interested in and what questions you have. What’s the thing that you want to keep finding out more about? And how do you want to work – in a lab, talking to other people, in a team, more on your own, a mix of things?
Keep being curious and follow your interests!

Science is just a general term to describe finding out new things about the world!

It’s OK not to know what area you want to be in. I would start by thinking about what you’re interested in: is it something to do with society and culture, something to do with chemicals, or with numbers, or the galaxy, or the brain? etc. etc. Don’t worry about fitting in — it’s better to find an area that fits to you.

For example, I’m interested in language — psychology is one of many areas that I could be in, I decided to be in this area because there’s a lot of research that happens in psychology that is like mine. I could easily be in sociology or linguistics, and I might move to those areas in the future so there’s nothing to stop you from changing. Just focus on what you’re interested in!

Basically what Debbie and Jack said – find out what interests you and make that your starting point!
