I wanted to be a few things — a police officer, a chef & a teacher. I wasn’t really sure what I wanted to do so I went to university, and started to really enjoy finding out new things. I didn’t know I could become a scientist until I went to university, but doing research was something that I also really enjoyed (and happened to be good at) so I kept doing that!

I also get to teach students, so in a small way I am doing something that I wanted to do when I was younger!

I had no idea what I wanted to be! I didn’t actually like science much at school so I didn’t think about being a scientist, and also didn’t realise science involves so many different things! Like Jack, when I went to university I found I really enjoyed finding out new things and doing research so I’ve kept doing it.

I always wanted to be a maths teacher, or maybe a sport teacher. But I took psychology in a level and really enjoyed it. Then I went onto do my degree and discovered research I could do on my own. That’s what really changed my mind
