Some times — especially during my PhD. It can be really really difficult to do research and it usually means that you fail like ten times before you succeed. I had a really big failure early on in my PhD which stopped me from collecting the data that I had planned my entire PhD around — that made me feel like giving up and doing something else (that I wasn’t meant to be a scientist).

I kept at it though, and now here I am. Those moments where things aren’t going very well, or it feels like you’re failing can make you feel like giving up, but they usually come right before you have a breakthrough.
